The aircraft’s 15 hour flight to Nairobi began after a colourful delivery ceremony attended by Boeing officials and Kenya Airways staff.

5Y-KZB is the first Kenya Airways B787 made in Boeing’s factory at Charleston, South Carolina. The Charleston site is the major manufacturing, assembly and delivery facility for Boeing commercial aircraft in the eastern United States.

The first Kenya Airways Dreamliner – 5Y-KZA – arrived in Nairobi on April 5, 2014 and was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta. The third Dreamliner will be delivered in July. Three others will arrive in Nairobi by October 2014.

Also joining the Kenya Airways fleet this July is the airline’s third B777-300ER. The aircraft, 5Y-KZX, has already been assembled and is now undergoing flight tests in the United States.
